  1. Get Basmati rice washed and soaked for 15minutes

Also, Ingredients for ghee rice are very few and can be found in our regular kitchen groceries. It goes well with paneer gravy and veg curry. Drain excess water from the rice and add to the onions. Stir for several minutes to coat the rice, adding a bit more ghee or water if the rice is sticking.

Instructions to make Easy Ghee rice:
  1. Firstly wash and soak the basmati rice
  2. Next use the rice cooker or pressure cooker (I used the Philips pressure cooker for this recipe). Add the ghee (or butter if you prefer), next add the cinnamon and star anise, cloves, cardamom, bay leaf. Then add the ginger garlic paste to it, once the raw smell is gone add the onions and greens chilies to it. Keep stirring it until the onions turn translucent.
  3. Once the onions are translucent, add the basmati rice to it and keep stirring it allowing to mix well with the rest of the ingredients. Next add the water to it (follow the water measurements as advised on your rice cooker or pressure cooker manual)
  4. After adding the water, pour 1 -2 tsp of ghee or butter to this, and close the lid and let it cook as required. Voila once the rice is cooked garnish it with roasted cashew nuts, sultanas, coriander leaves and even fried onions if you want the extra taste.

Drain excess water from the rice and add to the onions. Stir for several minutes to coat the rice, adding a bit more ghee or water if the rice is sticking. Still over medium-high heat, bring the rice to a hard boil. Turn the heat down to low and cover. To prepare this easy rice recipe, all you need is basmati rice, onion, green chili, nutmeg, garlic, ginger, ghee and other aromatic spices.
