Though I call Shakshuka a type of baked eggs, ironically my favourite way of making it is over campfire, poaching rather than baking. It worked brilliantly because eggs take mere minutes to cook, so they made large pots of this fragrant tomato sauce.

The ingredients needed to make Egg Shakshuka:
  1. Prepare 1 Onion large size(finely chopped)
  2. Get 1/2 cup Beans(finely chopped)
  3. Prepare 1/4 cup Capsicum(mix colour) (finely chopped)
  4. Prepare 5 Eggs
  5. Prepare 1 cup Tomato(finely chopped)
  6. Get 3 Green Chilli
  7. Make ready 3 Spring Onion(finely chopped)(keep few green portion of spring onion separate for garnishing)
  8. Get 8 Mushroom(chopped)
  9. Get Handful Coriander leaves
  10. Take as needed Cheese Mozzarella (grated)
  11. Take to taste Salt
  12. Take 1/4 tsp Red Chilli Powder
  13. Prepare 1/2 tsp Black pepperncorn powder
  14. Prepare 1/4 tsp Mixed herbs
  15. Get 2 tsp Oil (to saute the veggies)

It's a simple combination of simmering tomatoes, onions, garlic, spices and gently poached eggs. It's nourishing, filling and one recipe I guarantee you'll make time and again. Shakshuka is originally a Tunisian dish but has become hugely popular in Jerusalem and all over Israel as substantial breakfast or lunch fare. Tunisian cuisine has a passionate love affair with eggs and this particular version of shakshuka is the seasonal variant for the summer and early autumn.

Steps to make Egg Shakshuka:
    1. Take a pan. Add oil. Then add chilli, onion. Saute it. Then add the other veggies and at last add the tomatoes. Create a paste by cooking it in a low flame. Once the tomatoes turns soft. Add salt, red chilli powder and black pepper powder. Mix it well. Then add the grated cheese.
  1. Then break one egg in a bowl. In the veggies mixture make a space for the egg with a spoon and pour the egg on the same space. Likewise pour all the other eggs on the mixture. At this stage cover the lid and cook on a low flame for 5 mins or until the eggs are cooked to your liking. Here i have cooked it little more as my daughter do not love the poached eggs. You can do it as per your choice.
  2. Once done garnish with the spring onion and the coriander leaves. - Serve hot with the bread toast or anything of your choice. You can also add the spices like cumin powder to the veggie mixture.
  3. But i preferred to keep it simple. It is a healthy dish which you can enjoy in your snacks. Here my family enjoyed this as the wholesome breakfast with some fruits and coffee of individual choice. You can experiment this with difference veggies of your choice to make it more healthy and tasty.

Flick over the harissa and scrunch in the tomatoes, then stir in ΒΌ of a tin's worth of water, pop the lid back on and cook.
