Made with egg yolks, evaporated milk and sweetened condensed milk, Filipino leche flan is a rich, steamed custard topped with a syrupy caramel. This is a simple and easy version of a famous Filipino dessert known as Leche Flan.

  2. Make ready 250 g white sugar

  6. Get 1 can evaporated milk
  7. Take 250 g white sugar
  8. Prepare 5 pcs calamansi(can also use lemon juice as alternative)
  9. Prepare 1 tbsp vanilla essence

This classic dessert is made with a layer of caramelized sugar and a custard mixture of. This is a Filipino version of flan that is popular to serve during parties. Growing up, one of my favorite aunts was known for her homemade leche flan.

Steps to make Filipino Style Leche Flan:
  1. Start by making the caramelized syrup.
  2. Prepare the llanera to be used. In my case, I used 16pcs 10.5cm x 7.3 cm aluminum mold.
  3. Heat a pan and pour the 250g white sugar. Stir the sugar until it melts completely.
  4. Pour the caramelized syrup on each aluminum container. Let it cool.
  5. Start preparing the flan.
  6. Crack the eggs in a bowl. Stir it well and squeeze the calamansi. You can use 5 tbsp. lemon essence as an alternative. Mix it.
  7. Get a strainer and filter it to another bowl. Make sure that the egg and egg white are well mixed.
  8. Add the condensed milk, evaporated milk and sugar to the mixture.
  9. Stir the mixture until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  10. Get the strainer and filter the mixture at least 5 times. In my case, I used double strainer with fine mesh.
  11. Add the vanilla essence and stir it well.
  12. Pour the mixture to each mold. - Cover with aluminum foil and arrange it to the steamer.
  13. Boil water to the steamer casserole. When the water starts to boil, place the steamer and adjust the flame to low heat. - Steam for 30-45mins.
  14. Once cooked, cool it down and serve.

This is a Filipino version of flan that is popular to serve during parties. Growing up, one of my favorite aunts was known for her homemade leche flan. Pour the syrup in the aluminum molds, spread the caramel on the bottom of the molds. In a mixing bowl, combine the egg yolks, condensed milk, evaporated milk and vanilla.
