- To make the caramel sauce, in a pan heat water and sugar together. - Mix it well and let it melt over medium heat. - Bring it to boil and continue cooking till you get a nice caramel consistency and colour. - Once you see that the caramel is ready, remove it from the heat immediately, otherwise it may get burnt. - Pour this in the mould and make an even layer.
- Now pour in milk, curd and condensed milk in another bowl and mix it well together.Next add the vanilla essence and custard powder to it and mix it well. - Add this custard mixture over the caramel slowly and fill it.
- Bring water to boil in a steamer and place the custard mould in a steamer. Then close the lid of the steamer. - Let it cook for 25-30 mins or till a knife inserted comes out clean.
- Cool down to room temperature and refrigerate for 2 hours. - finally, unmould the caramel flan and enjoy.
