Idli chutney recipe - Sharing a simple South Indian chutney recipe for beginners that can be served with idli & dosa. The word 'CHUTNEY' is derived from an Indian term 'CHATNI' meaning crushed. In the earlier days, to make a chutney, ingredients were usually crushed to a coarse texture using a stone mortar and a hand pestle. Due to the slow crushing, the chutney would taste very flavorful.

To get started with this particular recipe, we must first prepare a few ingredients. You can cook idli with chutney using 20 ingredients and 6 steps. Here is how you can achieve that.

The ingredients needed to make Idli with chutney:
  1. Prepare Idli batter
  2. Get 3 cup idli rice
  3. Take 1 cup urad daal
  4. Make ready 1 tbsp meethi seeds
  5. Get Coconut chutney
  6. Prepare 1 cup coconut chopped/grated
  7. Prepare 1 green chilli
  8. Make ready 1 small piece of ginger
  9. Make ready 1 small piece of tamarind
  10. Take 1 tbsp roasted chanadaal
  11. Prepare Salt as required
  12. Take 4 curry leaves
  13. Prepare 1/2 tbsp mustard seeds
  14. Take 3 tbsp oil for tempering common for all chutneys
  15. Take Tomato chutney
  16. Get 2 medium tomatoes
  17. Take 1 small onion /half of big onion
  18. Make ready 1 tbsp chanadaal
  19. Prepare 2_3 dry chilli
  20. Make ready as per taste Salt

South Indian Chutney - the perfect accompaniment for any type of dosa or idli. South Indian Chutney - One of those food that you would find being made in most of the Indian households. Cover it with ½ tbsp of idli batter over the bhaji in each mould. Nariyal Ki Chutney is a chutney recipe to be taken with breakfast recipes such as idli or dosa or vada or uttapam or any south Indian breakfast recipe.

Steps to make Idli with chutney:
  1. Soak the ingredients for idli batter for 4 hours and grind rice and urad daal with meethi seeds separately. Check the consistency of batter,add water during grinding.Keep this for fermentation for 6 hours or overnight.Then to this add salt as required for taste just before cooking.
  2. Grease the idli platesvwith oil and pour idli batter in each section and keep this for steaming.
  3. For coconut chutney grind all ingredients except mustard seeds and curry leaves.Add 1/4 cup of water during grinding.Add salt for taste
  4. For onion chutney add 5tbsp oil.Then add dry chilli,onion,tomatoes,curry leaves and chanadaal.Sort till onions are transparent and tomatoes are smashy.Then after cooling grind them with required salt.Add tempering
  5. For green coconut chutney just heat coconut grated /pieces with mint and coriander leaves.Grind them with small piece of ginger,green chilli and roasted urad daal.
  6. Arrange them in a plate with and idli and cherry cutting.childrens will love them as of mine.

Cover it with ½ tbsp of idli batter over the bhaji in each mould. Nariyal Ki Chutney is a chutney recipe to be taken with breakfast recipes such as idli or dosa or vada or uttapam or any south Indian breakfast recipe. Nariyal is coconut in English and here I have used the freshly grated coconut to make the chutney. Do not use dry coconut or desiccated coconut as it does not give out the flavor which nariyal gives. A hot and spicy chutney can be served with any meal as a side, spread on rotis, sandwiches, parathas or tortillas or even more some kinds of chutney can be mixed with rice and eaten.
